Stop putting the cart before the horse. We must carefully and consistently TEACH number sense. The truth is, we can boil number sense down to 4 key concepts and infuse those concepts into our planning for teaching, learning and assessment at every grade level. If fact fluency or fact mastery is a goal, teachers must come to know how to teach number sense and THAT IS A FACT!!
