Beyond teaching math skills, we have a role as teachers of mathematics to open students up to joy and wonder to be found in thinking well. One of the best ways that happens in mathematics are the mental connections made when grasping an idea from multiple perspectives. These aha! moments
provide opportunities for delight. They also point to larger lessons in teaching equitably. The virtue of taking up multiple points of view will serve our students well far beyond their math courses.
